Aman Sarup
Georgetown University

Aman Sarup graduated top of his class with Honors from Ossining High School located in Westchester County, New York. During high school he performed post-graduate level research in the area of bioengineering through a three-year internship at the Bioacoustic Research Facility of Cornell University Medical College in New York. Through his research study, Aman formulated a novel method to measure a more accurate speed-of sound in the cornea, and thereby obtain a more accurate measurement of corneal thickness. The results of this study could lead to the increased success rate of LASIK surgery, and early diagnosis of several eye diseases. Aman was a Siemens Westinghouse 2006-07 National Semi-finalist and placed 4th in the world at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in 2007. He presented his findings at distinguished international conferences including The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology & The American Society of Ophthalmic Ultrasonography. Further, his research paper was submitted and accepted to the Journal of Refractive Surgery.

Although Aman has always been interested in economics, his personal interest in business was sparked when he completed an internship at Benchmark Financial Associates. At the internship, Aman researched the practices of pooling mortgages into Mortgage Backed Securities by government-regulated corporations such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Investment banks. Working closely with the President of Benchmark, he developed a market view of the flow of capital from the Primary to the Secondary Mortgage Market.

At the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, Aman anticipates to double major in Finance and Accounting, accompanied by a minor in Economics. Currently, he is an intern at the Georgetown University Alumni and Student Federal Credit Union - largest entirely student-run financial institution in the country with $11 Million in Assets. As a member service representative, Aman provides customer service and banking services to 13,000 account members, including individual members and student run corporations at Georgetown.

Aman’s interest in investments was sparked when he first read a copy of the 2006 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Report. Other than Warren Buffett’s impressive investment record, Aman was impressed by Buffett’s unique view regarding business, long-term capital appreciation, and life. Since then, Aman has become an avid reader of Buffett, and other value investors, and aspires to be the capital allocator of his own holding company in the future. Aman speaks several languages including English, Hindi, French, Arabic and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. On the weekends, Aman enjoys mixing music as a DJ as well as producing his own music.
