Nikhil Marathe
Chairman of Admissions, Energy Sector Head
University of Pennsylvania
Nikhil Marathe is originally from Santa Clara, California, and graduated from Saint Francis High School as the valedictorian of the class of 2006. In the Spring of 2010, he graduated magna cum laude from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in Finance and Management, and a minor in psychology.
Though an avid tennis player in high school, Nikhil decided to pursue other extracurricular interests in college. At Penn, he was the musical director of Penn Masala, the world’s first and premier South Asian a cappella group. Nikhil produced their sixth studio album, titled On Detours, and led the group through sold out nationwide tours. In his senior year, he led two international tours of India and the United Kingdom, and directed a special performance for President Barack Obama and other distinguished guests in the White House. He also was involved in the Student Activities Council Executive Committee, where he was responsible for allocating close to $1 million of university funding to over 200 student groups. Within Wharton more specifically, he was an active member of the Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club, and the Wharton Ambassadors, where he served as a liaison between The Wharton School and prospective freshmen.
His summers have been spent in everything from sales, to small-business consulting, to investment banking. In the summer before his senior year he worked in investment banking at Credit Suisse, and he has joined Evercore Partners full-time, where he focuses on Mergers and Acquisitions in the Technology sector. Within GPS, he was exposed primarily to the energy and consumer discretionary sectors, and in his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar and piano, improving his photography skills, and being outside.
