GPS Alumni - Class of 2008
Daniel Vyravipillai
CFO
London School of Economics
Daniel graduated from the London School of Economics in July 2008 with an Economics degree and currently works for Morgan Stanley in their Investment Banking Division in London. He is part of the Media and Communications group covering the EMEA region having completed a summer internship within the Financial Sponsors Group in 2007.
Daniel served as the Chief Financial Officer of GPS from 2007-2008 and, at LSE, sat on the Staff-Student committee for BSc Economics, acted as a student mentor and represented LSE at field hockey. He attended Merchant Taylors' School in England and is a recipient of the Gold award in the Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme. He is fluent in German and speaks Japanese at a conversational level.
Prior to starting at LSE, Daniel chose to take a year out from his studies to pursue non-academic interests. He was accepted onto the PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP GAP year program and spent time in their public services, insurance and investment management practices. For the second part of his GAP year, he travelled to the tsunami-affected area of Sri Lanka where he volunteered for four months as an English teacher.
Daniel hopes to one day manage an investment fund geared towards providing gifted children from disadvantaged backgrounds and countries with opportunities to pursue higher education abroad.
