MIT has always fostered an entrepreneurial spirit and competitive sportsmanship, a take-charge mentality that the status quo is not good enough, and a mantra that anything worth doing is worth doing exceptionally well. It is only fitting that GPS found its way onto the MIT campus as early in its history as it did.

While sitting through his Wall Street class at Stuyvesant High School, senior Jimmy Zhu listened intently to a short presentation from Rufino Mendoza about a group of college students starting an investment fund focused on hands-on financial experience.

Eight months later, Jimmy recognized the amazing opportunities that GPS would bring: combining an entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for finance, he vigorously pursued Rufino Mendoza until he got into the inner circle of Global Platinum Securities. After two rigorous rounds of interviews, an intense background check, and fraternity-style initiation process, Jimmy was welcomed into Global Platinum Securities.

That year, and every year since, MIT GPS has recruited and retained smart, intellectually curious, and motivationally driven students to embrace all that GPS has to offer.
