Tong Chen graduated salutatorian from Grace King High School in Metairie, Louisiana in 2008, where he qualified twice for the USA Math Olympiad and was a Siemens AP Scholar and National Merit Scholar. He currently studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, pursuing a major in Economics.

Tong became passionate about finance when he interned at a proprietary trading firm in the winter of his freshman year at MIT. He fell in love with not only the movements of different financial instruments but also the underlying businesses and assets. He currently serves on the executive board of Traders@MIT and organizes the annual MIT Intercollegiate Trading Competition. At the same time, he believes that one has much to learn from experiences outside of the classroom. He has worked part-time at DDJ Capital Management in Waltham, MA since January of 2010. In the summer of his sophomore year in college, Tong is working at Fidelity Investments as an Research Associate Intern, covering the global pet care industry.

In his free time, Tong enjoys reading history and current events and plays soccer with friends every week.
